Jeffrey Trickler

My name is Jeff Trickler, and I am seeking reelection as Ontario County Treasurer. My experience as County Treasurer and that of my previous public service as Chief of Police for the City of Geneva, has provided me the leadership, financial oversight and administrative expertise to be successful in this role.

As Chief of Police, I oversaw a $4 million annual budget and maintained responsibility for complete organizational leadership of a 50-person department. I oversaw all human resource functions within the department and provided guidance to the Mayor, City Manager and Hulman Resource Director to help shape city wide policies and procedures. I was the department’s Public Information Officer and charged with communicating with the residents and other government entities on departmental matters.

The wide variety of responsibilities and experience I obtained has proven to be invaluable in my role as County Treasurer. The Treasurer’s Office is responsible for many critical functions of County Government, including coordinating tax collection with all Towns, Villages and Cities, managing property foreclosures, providing court testimony, tax searches, issuing certificate of residencies, processing PILOT and corporation payments, among many other responsibilities. My four plus years of experience in the Treasurer’s Office has set the standard for how the department should fulfill our obligations to the taxpayers.

During the first year of my current term, our office has achieved many accomplishments. We expanded our services by adding two new school districts for school tax collection, bringing the total to five. I have implemented a cross-training program so that each staff member is able to perform all departmental functions and will be able to answer questions from the public in each area of responsibility. I have updated position titles and requirements to ensure that we only hire those who best align with our mission. Our office has successfully completed its first property auction in two years while navigating complex federal and state legislation which affected how the counties can operate property foreclosures. I am currently rewriting departmental policies and procedures to ensure our operations reflect current needs and best practices.

I am running for reelection because public service has always been a commitment of mine. With strong leadership and experience, I will continue introducing new ideas and procedures that benefit the county government and taxpayers. I am an effective communicator, and I have the confidence of other county departments which work closely with the Treasurer’s Office. I lead with fairness, consistency, and accountability. My experience and qualifications as a leader and as County Treasurer make me the clear choice in this year’s election.
