Richard C. "Rick" Roxin

ELECT   as Town of Canandaigua Justice

I’m Rick Roxin, and I’m looking for your vote on Election Day to serve as our new Town Justice, as current Town Justice David Prull is retiring after a remarkable career on the Bench.

Rare among trial lawyers in our region, I’ve handled numerous jury trials from both sides of the courtroom, based on spending nearly 17 years as a top-flight prosecutor in the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office, and going on 15 years as an accomplished defense attorney here in Canandaigua.

As an Assistant District Attorney, I successfully prosecuted murders, complex narcotics operations, rapes, robberies and other violent felonies. I also was appointed to head the DWI Bureau, and worked to get the worst of drunk drivers off the road, which included successfully handling our region’s first “black box” murder case. I worked closely with all of our area’s law enforcement agencies to successfully present their cases, which included extensive training to prepare personnel for the rigors of testifying in court.

As a defense attorney, I’ve represented people charged with felony and misdemeanor crimes, keenly aware of the need for protecting our precious Constitutional Rights, and I’ve zealously worked to ensure my clients’ rights to a fair trial fought on a level playing field. Whether appearing in Supreme, County, City or Town Courts, my commitment to achieving justice has never wavered.

In addition to courtroom experience such as my own, I believe that a critical component of being an effective and respected Town Justice is to already be an active member of the community. For over 5 years, I’ve proudly served as a member of the Cheshire Volunteer Fire Department, where I’m an accredited Interior Firefighter and hold the rank of Lieutenant. In addition, I served 3 terms as its president, sharing responsibility for the fiscal and administrative operations of our county’s busiest volunteer department. I cherish the opportunity to work alongside the men and women of the CVFD, who represent a broad array of backgrounds and occupations, and I embrace without hesitation our shared commitment to responding to our community’s calls for help at any time of the day or night.

I’m sure that you’ve heard of the old saying that it takes a village to raise a child, and similarly, I believe that it takes a broad collection of life experiences to prepare a Town Justice for the Bench. As a parent with my loving wife Amy to our four adult daughters, each day we’re reminded of the importance of family. I believe that I’ve lived, and continue to live, enriching life experiences, and that as a result, I am worthy of receiving your vote for Town Justice on Election Day. I sincerely appreciate your support.
